What a wonderful show we had this year with an outstanding amount of exhibits way over any previous year. As you can see from the photographs they were of a professional level and the judges had an extremely difficult task on the day. Well done to them for their expert judging and we thank them for their efforts year on year. We look forward to seeing them next year.
The Friday night games evening was well attended and everyone enjoyed the home-made ploughman’s made by our two wonderful social secretaries on the day. Games were played by all and the worthy winner was Roger Miller who got the most points scored throughout so ended up with our tiny trophy!
The day of the show was not brilliant weather-wise so the numbers were not as good as previous years, however, those who attended had a wonderful time browsing the exhibits, and checking out the many stalls and games available, finally stopping for some excellent home made cakes and refreshments. The winners cups and trophies were presented by Daniel Shing who was there for the day with his family supporting the local community as usual. He also picked the raffle prize winners for which we are very grateful. Our sponsors of various games and prizes for the raffles were our local supermarkets and Theatres comprising of Tesco, Co-Op Cophall Roundabout Petrol Station, Morrisons Eastbourne, Sainsbury’s Eastbourne, Hailsham Pavilion Theatre, and Devonshire Park Theatre and we are always very grateful for their contributions year on year.
The Saturday evening Fish & Chip Supper was again well attended and everyone had lovely hot fish and chips supplied by Calamar Fish Bar in Polegate High Street followed by some wonderful home made desserts so kindly supplied by our members and committee. The flowers from the show left behind by people adorned our tables and glasses were raised to the many wonderful volunteers who all helped to make the show the success it is. The quiz that night was won by Angie Lewis.
Next year’s show is Saturday 11th August and we look forward to seeing everyone there - hopefully the sun will shine!
